Cold email that never embarrasses you

Finds you clients.
Offers only what you've ticked.

It reads each firm's own site, writes to the person who decides, and sends from your own mailbox or, for volume, warmed ones. Replies come to you either way. Every email has a reason you can see, or it is not sent.

03How it works

From your website to replies in your inbox.

  1. 01Reads your site

It reads your website and writes down what you sell, how you price it and who you have done it for. You fix anything it got wrong.

  2. 02Picks audiences

It suggests the kinds of firms your work fits. You tick the ones you want to reach.

  3. 03Finds the person who decides

For each firm it finds the owner or the head of the team you would sell to, with an address that works.

  4. 04Writes and sends

Each email opens on something the firm says about itself. At most 10 a day go out from your own mailbox; the rest from our warmed mailboxes, a few dozen a day each. With no reply, two short follow-ups go after it: about half of all replies come from those. Don't like how they read? Say so in a line and see the change before it applies.

  5. 05Sorts the replies

Replies come back to one inbox, sorted. It answers the simple questions and keeps the rest for you.

04What it won't do

The rules it keeps when it writes in your name.

It never comments on a prospect's own website.01
It never promises a meeting or a price for you. A draft that does waits for you to read it.02
Anything it is unsure of waits for you. Nothing risky goes out on its own.03
05Made by a studio, for studios

Built to find one studio's clients first.

I'm Lin. I run KILN., a one-person studio in Singapore that designs and builds websites, from the first sketch to the last line of code.

Most of KILN.'s work starts with an email to a firm that has never heard of me. A good one means reading the firm first: its site, its work, who runs it. One person can only read so many.

So I built Gako to do the reading and the writing, and to bring the replies back to me. KILN. finds its own clients with it. What you sign up for is the same tool.

07Questions

What people ask first.

Whose mailboxes send the emails?

Your own sends at most 10 a day, so the address your clients write to stays clean, and replies land in your inbox. The rest go from our warmed mailboxes, up to 50 a day more on the free trial, and replies to them are forwarded to you. Warmed mailboxes on a domain like yours open soon.

Will my emails land in spam?

Each mailbox sends a few dozen emails a day after weeks of warm-up. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe, and anyone who says no is never written to again. If complaints pass 0.1%, sending pauses until a person looks.

Where do the leads come from?

From business data providers and from firms' own websites. Gako does not scrape LinkedIn.

Can I change how the emails sound?

Yes. On any campaign, say how they should read: shorter, lead with their recent projects, never mention price. You see a few emails before and after, and nothing changes until you apply it.

Which countries can I send to?

The US first, and most of the world. Where a country's law asks for consent before a cold email, Gako warns you and holds those emails; they go only if you choose to take on the risk.

What does it cost?

4 cents for each email sent, pay as you go. Sending more, a monthly plan costs less: 1,000 emails US$38, 2,500 emails US$90, 5,000 emails US$170, 10,000 emails US$300, and a month's unused emails roll over one month. Replies cost nothing. The trial is US$15 of sending for US$1 by card.

What happens to unused credit?

Trial credit ends 14 days after you sign up. Founding credit lasts 12 months, and you can have what is unused back within the first 60 days.
